Lieutenant shadows base commander for the day Published May 18, 2010 By Senior Airman Anthony J. Hyatt 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- 1st Lt. Limpson White, 325th Civil Engineer Squadron Deputy Operations flight commander, spent the day with Col. James Browne, 325th Fighter Wing commander, April 20 after being selected for the Commander's Shadow Program. "I recommended Lieutenant White because he is an energetic, junior engineer with a desire to learn more about Civil Engineering and its corresponding impact on the contingency and home station missions," said Lt. Col. Keith Welch, 325th CES commander. "I learned a great deal about the enormous responsibility the base commander has in addition to the flying training mission and his own flying as well," said Lieutenant White. "My favorite part of the day was being able to sit down one-on-one with the boss and get a view of the wing from his perspective and get a taste of what his duties and responsibilities are while trying to balance an extremely demanding schedule." Lieutenant White's job responsibilities include overseeing a $16 million base-maintenance contract and $1.3 million in service contracts. He also maintains the capability to respond to and eliminate any emergency conditions 24 hours a day and provides reliable, cost-effective utilities to meet readiness requirements, satisfy installation needs and maintain quality of life. "From this experience, I would share to other CGOs the importance of learning all that we can about our jobs and the day-to-day Air Force at the tactical level we're at now so as we progress through the ranks and we are looking at the Air Force from a higher level of responsibility so we can rely on those learning experiences and networks built as young CGOs," said Lieutenant White.
