Tyndall's housing residents came out to participate in 'be clean go green,' a LifeWorks program held at the Balfour Beatty Community center in base housing Jan. 16.

The purpose of the event was to bring awareness and provide information about the recycling program at Tyndall. Children enjoyed themselves with a large cardboard maze, a disc jockey entertained visitors and plenty of food and drinks were available.

Samantha Hilton, LifeWorks coordinator has been working with the program since Balfour Beatty took over housing in July 2008.

"This day was about getting the Community Police and Balfour Beatty together to promote recycling around the base," said Ms. Hilton. "The LifeWorks program promotes (unity) with the residents and Tyndall Air Force Base."

"It is the Community Police's privilege and pleasure to work with Balfour Beatty to make kids aware that recycling can and should be part of an everyday effort to better our environment," said Airman 1st Class Sarah Adams, 325th Security Forces community police. "It can not only be fun, but beneficial to us all."

According to the Balfour Beatty community website, the LifeWorks program at Balfour Beatty Communities is all about wellness--feeling well in body and mind. They created this unique wellness program to help residents and their families develop and maintain healthy bodies and minds. They specially tailored the program for the Tyndall Air Force Base community. There is a variety of activities, seminars, and events to help you get fit, challenge your mind, interact positively with others, and enrich ones life.

"(The program's) goal is to make the residents feel at home, as well as a way to know your neighbors and meet each other in a comfortable setting," said Ms. Hilton. "It's about partnering with the Air Force and complementing their events."
