Twenty-one Air Force food service professionals were honored at the 2009 Hennessy Travelers Association Educational Foundation Armed Forces Forum for Culinary Excellence Oct. 4-10, two of which are assigned to Team Tyndall.

Staff Sgt. Nicole Sevigny, 325th Force Support Squadron food service craftsman, represented Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, and Senior Airman Claribel Najera Torres, 325th FSS food service journeyman, represented Tyndall AFB.

"I feel grateful for being chosen as the Tyndall Hennessey Award winner because we have a lot of outstanding Airmen in our career field," said Airman Torres. "I am also grateful for the opportunities that were given to help me excel in my career field."

Honorees are nominated to represent their bases by evaluation teams during a month-long worldwide tour to select the "best of the best" in military food service operations. The evaluation teams consist of members from the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors, the Society for Food Service Management, the International Food Service Executives Association and military headquarters staff.

"For the short time that I have been the Food Service Officer here at Tyndall, I have been truly impressed with both Staff Sgt. Nicole Sevigny and Senior Airman Claribel Najera-Torres," said 2nd Lt. Maegan Sutton, 325th FSS Food Service Officer.
"They are two of the most professional, hard-working, and responsible Airmen I have worked with and are excellent choices as Hennessy Travelers. I am privileged to have them on my team and honored to serve in the Air Force."

The Hennessy Travelers Award was established in 1957 and is the oldest military food service award.
