More than 120 individuals participated in the Tyndall Air Force Base Tynman tri/duathlon Oct. 3.

The event began at the Pier on Eagle drive in base housing with a third mile swim, a 12 mile-bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

"It's a great course," said Jeffrey Bowman, Florida State University Information System assistant director and winner of the event. "It is very safe and race friendly with a nice swim and light traffic. I was looking forward to it."

Mr. Bowman finished the event with a time of one hour and eight seconds.

Tynman registration was open to the general public and a variety of people came to either participate in the event or to support it. Brig. Gen. Darryl Roberson, the 325th Fighter Wing commander, and a few group and squadron commanders showed their skills and individuals as young as ten and over 60 years of age also participated. Proceeds will be split between both Combined Federal Campaign and Company Grade Officer Council.

"What a great turn out," said 1st Lt. Arthur Aragon, CGOC president and volunteer at the event. "It was the largest turnout in the Tynman's four-year history. We anticipated 65 participants and we ended the day with over 120 which shattered previous attendance records."

Lieutenant Aragon commented 1st Lt. Eileen Shannon, Air Force Research Laboratory research scientist, on her efforts as race director.

We were pleased with the number of participants and the senior leadership participation in supporting the event, said Lieutenant Shannon. The event wouldn't have been possible without all the volunteers that helped as well as all that came to support.

"There was a great crowd," said Lieutenant Aragon, "great athletes, and best of all, an awesome location here at Tyndall."
