Football season is around the corner Published Aug. 18, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Veronica McMahon 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The National Football League season is approaching Sept. 10 and Football Frenzy events will take place every following Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. after kick-off at the Sports Lounge to celebrate the regular NFL Football season. "We love how involved people get with Football Frenzy," said Sarah English, 325th Force Support Squadron Marketing specialist. "We look forward to them participating in 'Pigskin Picks' as well, which is also coming up." The Sports Lounge, previously known as "The Pizza Pub," offers specials and door prizes for all who watch the various games on the lounge's many flat screen TVs. Pigskin Picks is another annual football activity. This is a free program open to the base populace 18 years of age and older, where people predict the teams which will win and turn them in to the community center the Friday before the game. "Every year we have a great turnout for these games," said Catherine Green, the Sports Lounge manager. "We offer drink and food specials that can't be beat." Renovations to the facility will ensure a good time is had by all. "We remodeled the Sports Lounge this past year for football season," said Sylvia Bowles, Tyndall Clubs manager. "People can come out, relax, and enjoy food and drinks while watching the game on a huge screen and multiple flat screens, while watching their favorite team play in a great atmosphere." There are two drawings each week, said Mrs. English. One is for club members, where they can enter for door prizes which will be given away throughout the games each Sunday. The other is the Ultimate Fan drawing, which is open to everyone. These people can enter for the next week to pick the noon or afternoon games. Football Frenzy will wrap up with the annual Super Bowl party. This season's scheduled date for the Super Bowl is Feb. 7, 2010.
