325 SFS provides sense of security during air show Published March 24, 2009 By Senior Airman Anthony J. Hyatt 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- While thousands of people from surrounding communities are enjoying the 2009 Gulf Coast Salute Air Show at Tyndall Air Force Base, there will still be many individuals hard at work including the Airmen of the 325th Security Forces Squadron. "The air show will be one of our busiest times of the year," said Master Sgt. Gregory Schulz, 325th SFS installation and physical security NCO in-charge. "We want to provide a safe and secure environment for the local community." All day, the 325th SFS personnel will be conducting traffic control, parking, personnel searches and crowd control. While safety and security is carried out on the ground, marine patrol will also be performed. The squadron is equipped with patrol boats, which remain near the Tyndall AFB shoreline to ensure civilian boaters do not approach sensitive areas of the base, as well as to respond to any emergencies. All vehicles entering Tyndall are subject to search at any time. Refusal to comply will result in denial of access to the base. The squadron is asking for attendee's patience when going through security to get into the show and especially when driving home. They have to search people to make sure this is a safe and fun event for all. Visual inspections of hand-carried items will be conducted. There will also be a heavy K-9 presence in parking areas and at base gates, to further inhibit illegal contraband items and unruly personnel. The following items are prohibited: · Firearms · Knives (including pocket knives and all purpose tools, i.e. Leatherman's) · Backpacks and large bags · Coolers · Aircraft transceivers · Any alcoholic beverages or glass bottles If you have any questions, direct them to the 325th SFS law enforcement desk at (850) 283-2254.
