The LPRP is open to Air Reserve Component Line officers and the RRORP is open to retired active duty members.

The expansion of unmanned aircraft systems and other requirements directly supporting the global war on terror has created a demand for more experienced rated officers. These programs are intended to help minimize this critical shortage.

· Members who were separated from active duty for non-selection for promotion are eligible.

For RRORP only:
· Only non-disability retired officers under age 60 may apply. Officers permanently retired for physical disability are not eligible for recall
· Recalled officers will not be limited to the maximum years of service for their respective grades
· Officers who retired due to selective early retirement boards or those who requested retirement in lieu of meeting a SERB may apply for recall under this program

In addition to the above criteria, the following applies to this program:
· Application period runs through Dec. 31
· Officers recalled are not eligible for aviator continuation pay
· Applicants volunteering for recall and ordered to EAD become eligible to deploy
· Officers may be recalled for the following varying periods:

o Officers filling rated staff vacancies will serve a minimum period of 24 month with 12 month extensions allowable up to a 48 month maximum tour
· Reserve officers, current and retired, entering active duty retirement sanctuary at some point during their tour are eligible to apply.

For LPRP only:
· Reserve officers recalled cannot remain on active duty longer than the first day of the month following their 62nd birthday; however, recall tour lengths will not exceed any mandatory separation date that the member may have.
· Officers recalled remain on the reserve active status list.

Applications from members meeting eligibility criteria will meet a recall board. Those selected will receive an assignment offer and be asked to sign and return a statement of intent accepting or declining the offer. Upon receipt of the statement of intent, Air Force Personnel Center will finalize EAD processing.
