Hyatt 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Tyndall Tigers men's varsity basketball team came up short once again to the Naval Station Mayport Hurricanes 85-78 Saturday. The Hurricanes were able to take a 39-33 lead into the half behind their guard Reggie Geter, who scored 20 points. Mayport continued to extend their lead in the second half, reaching as high as 11 points. However, Tyndall fought back and pulled within three points with one minute left in the contest. Late in the game, Tyndall was forced to foul the Mayport players. From there, Mayport put the game away converting on eight of 10 free throws. With the loss, Tyndall has now fallen to the Hurricanes twice this season and remains in fifth place in the Southeastern Military Athletic Conference with a win-loss record of 3-5. Marqus Armour led the Tigers in scoring with 19 points, followed by Jared Austin's 15 and Rasheem Ramsey's 14. Ramsey also added six assists, while Armour led the team in rebounding with 10. Mayport's leading scorer was Geter with a game-high 27 points. Tyndall will travel to Eglin Air force Base Saturday to compete in the second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Baskeball Challenge. Tyndall will face Ft. Benning at 1 p.m. Saturday and Eglin at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Tigers will host the Keesler AFB Dragon and Lady Dragons at 2 and 4 p.m. Jan. 24.
