Annual holiday cookie drive begins today, donations needed Published Nov. 17, 2008 By Capt. Amanda Ferrell 325th Figher Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- It's time for Tyndall Air Force Base's Annual Cookie Caper event. Dozens of homemade or store-bought cookies are needed to ensure the holiday program is a success. Cookie donations will be accepted between 7 and 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 at the loading docks behind the Tyndall Air Force Base Commissary. The goal for the year's Annual Cookie Caper is to collect, package and distribute 500 dozen cookies to all single Airmen living in Tyndall Air Force Base dormitories," said Kim Brewer, event organizer. This project is a base-wide effort supported by agencies such as the First Sergeants' Council, Officer Spouses Club, Enlisted Spouses Club and the Tyndall Air Force Base Commissary. The Spouses Clubs will be collecting and packing the cookies, and the materials to wrap and collect the cookies will be provided by the commissary. The First Sergeants will be picking up the packaged cookies and delivering them to Tyndall Airmen in mid-December. There are approximately 435 Airmen living in the dorms. These single Airmen may not have the opportunity to be with family during the holidays, so Tyndall organizations are working to gather cookies to remind Airmen they are cared for and thought of during the holiday season. "The Cookie Caper project is a great way to bring these airmen some great Holiday cheer and sweet treats," said Ms. Brewer. "The Cookie Caper project is also a great way to show our Airmen they are not forgotten during the holiday season and that we appreciate all they do." Volunteers are needed the day of the Cookie Drop to help collect, wrap and package the cookies. People are also asked to make donations of home-baked or store-bought cookies for Tyndall Airmen.
