Tigers win season opener

The Tyndall Tigers men's varsity basketball team won their season opening game against the Moody Flying Tigers, 82-77, in a Southeastern Military Athletic Conference matchup Saturday. 

The Tigers led most of the first half, but Moody was able to keep Tyndall's lead to only three points, 36-33. 

In the second half, the Tigers took control of the game. Tyndall built a 14-point lead, 60-47, with 10 minutes left in the contest. But with poor free-throw shooting, Moody was able to chip away at the lead, ultimately evening the score at 72-72 with 2:48 left in the game. In the end, the Tyndall Tigers were able to hold off the Moody Flying Tigers with crucial key plays on offense and defense, along with clutch free throws down the stretch. 

Marqus Armour lead the Tigers with 19 points, followed by Antonio Bazemore's 15, Dan Cooper's 13, Rasheem Ramsey's 12 and Chris Walker's 11. Bazemore and Armour both added 10 rebounds each. Ramsey led the team with six assists while Armour had five blocked shots. Blake Williams led Moody in scoring with a game-high 24 points.
