The third Annual Combined Federal Campaign 5K Run begins 6 a.m. Oct. 1 at the Tyndall Air Force Base Fitness Center. In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness month, all donations raised will go to the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Shelter.

According to shelter officials, battering occurs every 15 seconds in the United States and domestic violence is rarely an isolated incident. The shelter's domestic violence and rape disaster program provides crisis intervention services to victims of these adversities.

The Salvation Army Domestic Violence Shelter is a local organization which brings social change through advocacy, education, outreach and support for victims, survivors and children of domestic violence. The organization's CFC booklet listing is located under the United Way of Northwest Florida, 69291. All Tyndall personnel are invited to participate in the run.
