Col. Gino Auteri, 325th Medical Group commander, led a military formation of more than 120 Tyndall Airmen during a two-mile remembrance run at 7:30 a.m. today.

The remembrance run is organized each year as a demonstration of local service member's resolve and reflection on the events of September 11, 2001.

Representatives from all 325th Fighter Wing units gathered in military formation to hear opening remarks by Colonel Auteri and other Tyndall leaders. All participants observed a moment of silence in honor of the more than 3,000 American civilians killed in the terror attacks, and for the thousands of American service members who have lost their lives in support of the Global War on Terror since 2001.

Military marching songs and patriotic cadence echoed across the installation during the two-mile trek. Ranks of service members, all wearing the official Air Force physical fitness uniform, ran in step past dormitories, installation facilities and Flag Park, which showcases Tyndall's aircraft assets of past and present.

All flags on Tyndall Air Force Base will be flown at half-staff today until retired.
