AFPC working LES glitch Published May 23, 2008 By Melissa Porter 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Many active-duty Air Force members may have noticed erroneous information regarding their Career Status Bonus election and corresponding retirement plan on their Leave and Earning Statements in the past several months. The Air Force Personnel Center is working hard to resolve the problem, which stems from a system edit used to translate the data from the Military Personnel Data System to the LES. "Normally when members make a CSB election, the words 'High-3' or 'Redux' will show in the retirement plan block of the LES," said Maj. Joseph Schneider, 325th Mission Support Squadron Military Personnel Flight commander. "The current programming glitch will not allow this change to reflect on the LES until after the member reaches 16.5 years of service." Major Schneider said members affected by the glitch should not worry. "The source document used to confirm this information is the DD Form 2839, CSB Election, not the LES," said the major. "When a member's retirement is processed, AFPC will provide the Defense Finance and Accounting Service the information from MilPDS, and DFAS will review the member's active duty pay file before they create the retired pay account." Regardless, AFPC encourages members to ensure MilPDS is updated appropriately and the DD Form 2839 is on file prior to retirement. "It's always wise to double check to ensure the information you've provided is updated in the system," said Major Schneider.
