Time to get fit Published April 29, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Anthony J. Hyatt 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- In the Air Force, fitness is high priority. Airmen must be fit to fight to keep up with current operational demands, including an increased readiness posture, in today's Air Force. In keeping with that goal, senior leaders named the month of May as Air Force Fitness Month to get people active and moving. At Tyndall Air Force Base, 44.5 percent of active-duty members are overweight, having a body mass index between 25 and 29.9. In addition, 12.2 percent are considered obese or having a BMI of 30 and above. During the month, the base fitness center and the Health and Wellness Center have designed several classes and programs to help Team Tyndall get on and stay on track to physical fitness.
