Recently, people may have used this phrase to describe certain 325th Services Squadron media products, but now the squadron has joined the rest of world in the 21st Century with new advertising and programming efforts.
The most visible of these efforts is the completely revamped website at www.325thservices.com, now host to a frequently updated weblog, podcast and interactive weekly poll.
"We want to bring you the best we have to offer, and we want people to participate, have fun and give us honest unfiltered feedback," said Lt. Col. Michael Lamb, 325th Services Squadron commander. "That is why our products have become increasingly interactive."
Other improvements to the website include clean and easy navigation, comprehensive event listing and a polished look. These changes will help visitors find the most up-to-date events listing, Tyndall Air Force Base map, job opportunities, commercial sponsorship opportunities and base lodging reservations.
Team Tyndall members may also have noticed the new Leisure Guide trifold that was introduced in March and can be found in all Services facilities and on Air Force Club member's doorsteps each month. This full-colored gloss trifold highlights featured events and contests and has replaced the former Leisure Times.
All these new advertising products are a reflection of some of the effort to bring Team Tyndall members fresh and exciting programs and events, such as the recent "Opera and Wine Tasting Night," held at the Heritage Club; the bi-monthly "Latin Night," at the Enlisted Lounge (open to all ranks); the recent "Def Poetry Jam" held at the Enlisted Lounge; and the "Guitar Hero III Tournament" at the Pizza Pub.
In the future, Services plans to up the ante with new and exciting ideas to bring base members the best in entertainment and relaxation. One example is a program on May 2 called "Please Your 'Palettes," where the Squadron is bringing an artist in from How Great Your Art, a local business, to the Heritage Club for a night of painting, wine and Italian food. Attendees will leave with a full stomach and their own painting.
"This is an event we are so excited about," said Sylvia Bowles, Heritage Club manager. "I have heard nothing but good things about How Great Your Art. There is no artistic talent needed, we guarantee you will be happy with the painting that you walk out with and will remember this experience forever. You will also have something to hang on the wall at home, and if not - you can always give it to mom!"
All of these changes are bringing about an air of excitement for the 325th Services Squadron, and promises to keep on going.
