Dining Facility closed until April Published March 3, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Veronica McMahon 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Berg-Liles Dining Facility closed Saturday for approximately one month. Throughout March, contractors will be working to repair and replace the facility's drainage system. Airmen who are Essential Station Messing meal card holders will receive Base Allowance for Subsistence in their March 15 pay. "Airmen should budget their money," said Master Sgt. Erica Shipp, 325th Services Squadron food services superintendent. "The BAS equals to roughly nine dollars a day and that won't cover eating out every meal. The Airmen should try to get together in groups and do community dinners in the dormitories." Sergeant Shipp also suggests supervisors occasionally invite their Airmen over for dinner so they can enjoy a hot meal. Tech. Sgt. Brian Denny, the 325th SVS Berg-Liles Dining Facility manager, echoes Sergeant Shipp's remarks. "In the long run, it will save the Airmen money if they stay on base for meals," said Sergeant Denny. "The bowling alley snack bar has affordable sandwiches, and there is the pizza pub, Heritage Club, and AAFES facilities." While the dining facility is closed, the squadron's Berg-Liles employees are dispersed to other areas, said Sergeant Shipp. They are working at lodging, the fitness center, and the Eagle Quick Turn, as well as training to deploy, and preparing for the Operational Readiness Inspection. The 30-day closure is an accurate estimate, but is subject to change. "If it goes longer than 30 days, we will send out a 'Tyndall All' e-mail to notify everyone," said Sergeant Shipp.
