Tyndall Air Force Base's 325th Services Squadron held "Rockfest 2008," a free concert for military members Saturday at Heritage Park.

"Ten (local) bands performed to thank the Tyndall community for their military commitment," said Della Allen, 325th SVS Community Activities Center director.

The local bands that played included Golden Rose, Parker City Limits, Ground, Radial, Cult Status, Falling at Will, Red Hour, Element 55, Colossick and During the Drought .

Family-friendly bands played from noon-5 p.m., hard-core bands played from 5 p.m. until midnight.

Rockfest couldn't have functioned with just the bands.

"We had lots of help from volunteers all over Tyndall," said Airman 1st Class Jason Stubbs, Rockfest 2008 coordinator. "Members from the CAC and First Term Airmen Center provided most of the manpower; dedicating most of their day to the event."

"There seems to be an emerging music scene in Panama City, and it's great to see that it's reaching Tyndall," said Chris Dahmer, 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs, who also performed with his band Red Hour. "It's always great for bands to get their name out there."

The event was a success according to the event coordinator.

"The bands played great and people had fun," said Airman Stubbs.
