The 325th Civil Engineer Squadron will be performing smoke tests on the base waste system along Florida Ave. and near facilities on the flight line side tomorrow through Sunday.

"The smoke tests are being performed to test the inflow and infiltration into our waste water system," said Gilbert Walker, 325th CES energy and utilities manager.

During the smoke tests, the flight line side of the base may appear to be on fire.

"Smoke may be coming out of man-holes, floor drains and possibly sinks," said Mr. Walker.

Facility managers should check all sinks, toilets, floor drains and p-traps in their facilities to ensure they contain water during the test frame to prevent smoke from unnecessarily entering the facilities.

People should not be alarmed.

"The smoke is not hazardous, but it could fill a room or area," said the utilities manager. "Just open the doors and the smoke will dissipate."

If smoke does infiltrate your facility, exit the area and notify Mr. Walker at 523-4715 or Ann Garner at 523-4861 so the procedure can be terminated and they can investigate the cause.
