Lady Tigers clinch regular season title

The Tyndall Lady Tigers defeated the Ft. Benning Bandits 65-63 Saturday in Southeastern Military Athletic Conference action. 

The Tigers, improving their record to 7-0, clinched their first-ever SEMAC Conference championship. 

The two squads battled back and forth throughout the contest. 

In the first half, Richerre Harrison and Monica Mason provided Tyndall a one-two punch as they scored 11 and seven points respectiviely. At the end of the half, the Lady Tigers trailed 31-27. 

In second half, the lead went back and forth. The game wasn't decided until the final seconds. With 24 seconds remaining, Tyndall's Mason was fouled and sent to the free throw line with the score tied 63-63. Mason sank one of the two free throws to give Tyndall the lead 64-63. Ft. Benning had one more chance to score, but the ball was rebounded by Tyndall's Trisha Bell. Bell went to the line and hit one of her two free throws to make the final score 65-63. 

Tiffanie Guthrie and Richere Harrison paced the Lady Tigers in scoring with 20 points each, followed by Monica Mason with 17 points. Guthrie led the team in rebounds with 12 and Mason had four assists. Regina Kirk led Ft. Benning in scoring with a game high 25 points. 

The Lady Tigers will host the second place Keesler Air Force Base Lady Dragons at 2 p.m. Saturday.
