The 325th Maintenance Group was awarded the 2006 Gen. Thomas Gerrity Logistics Award by the Air Education and Training Command for their performance last year.

The award recognizes superior performance by a unit for their maintenance and mission support of the Air Force mission.

"I am very proud of all our Checkertail maintainers," said Col. Brett Haswell, 325th Maintenance Group commander. "They continue to do amazing work for our Air Force and are constantly looking for opportunities to improve our business."

During 2006, the 325th MXG guided an aging fleet of 70 F-15s in more than 16,000 sorties with a 92.7 percent flying scheduling effectiveness rate. They also facilitated more than 2,000 F-22 sorties.

The group's efforts helped the 325th Fighter Wing produce 158 pilots last year.

"Our maintenance team is making it happen," said Colonel Haswell. "They know the most important thing we do is to ensure the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of our aircraft so we can best meet the wing mission."

Group personnel also brought new fixes to old problems, by enhancing their productivity through the use of technology, eliminating waste and promoting the principles of Air Force Smart Operations 21. Their changes saved thousands of dollars in operating costs and instituted changes that are improving operations Air Force-wide.

"The maintenance teams' success is attributable to the world's best noncommissioned officer corps and contractors doing the work on the flightline and in the shops, every day," said Colonel Haswell. "What they do is amazing; it's great to see them recognized for their hard work and dedication."

The 325th MXG will now compete with other command-level Gen. Thomas P. Gerrity Logistics Award winners for the Air Force-level award.

"Maintenance is a very demanding profession," said Colonel Haswell. "We are thankful that we have such motivated, dedicated professionals."
