Medical Group is best in the bizz Published Feb. 23, 2007 By Airman Glenn Moore 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th Medical Group was recognized by the Air Force surgeon general as the top performing continental United States large clinic in the Air Force. "It's really good to receive this award because it requires everyone to pull on the rope to win it," said Col. George Nicolas, 325th MDG commander. "Each department has a part to play to achieve this." The award goes to the clinic with the highest metrics used for judging. The metrics measure shows the level of care for patients and the successfulness in treating patients. Although, the clinic has had huge success, they don't intend to stop pushing for better results. "There is a saying that goes 'you are only as good as your last patient,'" said Colonel Nicolas. "We always have to try to get better, especially with the new advances and changes in medicine." In addition to the clinic winning an award as a whole, the family practice Eagle team received honors as the Top Performing Primary Care Element in the Air Education and Training Command. "It is an individual award, but it was more than just us. It was a team effort from all the different elements, and it reflects on them as well," said Maj. Timothy Howerton, 325th Medical Operations Squadron flight commander. "Also, we use it as a springboard to keep going and keep the morale up. It's also important because it sets the bar for new Airmen who join us." With all the effort put forth by his staff, Major Howerton exuded the pride he has for the clinic. "This is the 10th medical group I've been apart of in my career, and I've never seen as much effort as I see here," said Major Howerton. "I'm proud of every one of them." Colonel Nicolas couldn't agree more. "When I arrived, I knew this group was special; you could feel the effort and care they put into each patient," said Colonel Nicolas. "They are professional about what they do and provide first-class care."
