GMH Military Housing is committed to making Tyndall family housing a place residents will be proud to call home.

With Tyndall, the Department of the Air Force and Congress behind them, GMH assumed the operations of family housing here on Feb. 6.

"We are excited and ready for the transition," says Teri Henry, GMH community manager, "We have quite a few great things to come for the residents here. Beginning with our lawn care service, online requests for maintenance and the immediate construction of new homes, our residents will know GMH is committed to taking great care of their homes and improving their expectations of on-base housing."

GMH, with partners The Benham Companies (architect and engineering) and Hensel Phelps Construction Company, plans to manage the current housing efforts here, while adding housing to provide an improved community environment.

Construction for the new homes will begin shortly after the Feb. 6 transition and will consist of three phases.

Phase I will be an extension of the Red Fish Point neighborhood and will include 116 E-1 to E-6 and 93 O-1 to O-3 three-and four-bedroom homes.

Phase II will include 37 field grade and senior officer homes.

Phase III, which consists of the renovation of 226 duplex units into 113 single family homes, will provide quality improvements for the families residing in these older homes. The renovations will also help preserve the homes until replacements are built.

Building new homes and renovating existing homes are only the first steps in transforming family housing into a quality residential community. GMH believes adding the right mix of neighborhood amenities as well as a community center is a critical second step. The neighborhood amenities will consist of common areas, basketball courts, play lots and "tot" lots.

A community center in Wood Manor is planned for Phase III, which will include GMH offices, resident swimming pool and a playground area.

GMH will provide lawn care service as of Feb. 6. This will include mowing, edging sidewalks and trimming hedges. Residents with fenced-in lawns will be responsible for mowing these areas. A schedule for lawn care service can be found online at www.tyndallfamilyhousing.com.

There will be no interruption of service for general household refuse collection. GMH will continue to provide recycling services.

Residents may continue with maintenance requests using the current maintenance phone number, or they can place requests online at www.tyndallfamilyhousing.com under the maintenance menu.

GMH welcomes anyone with questions, comments or an interest in family housing to contact the Community Management Office located in Bldg. 747 or call (850) 286-1700.
