Base Supply Center opening at Tyndall

A Base Supply Center will be opening at Tyndall Jan. 13 in building 266. The BSC is an authorized source for a variety of goods and services and about 900 high-demand products.

Roughly half of the store is devoted to military equipment, with items like flight suits, jackets and boots that are available immediately. The rest of the store is focused on light janitorial and cleaning products and office supply and, such as notebooks, binders, pens, award frames, antibacterial wipes, glass cleaners and paper towels.

"If you need it, we can get it," said Seth Anderson, Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind director of marketing communications.  "This location is operated by Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind which maintains an extensive and diverse supplier network along with in-house procurement specialists. These procurement specialists have the knowledge, insight and experience to overcome any procurement challenges Tyndall may face.

"At our other 20 BSC stores, we have provided everything from common office supplies and janitorial and sanitary products to items like golf carts and kitchen sinks," he continued.

At bscsource.com, cardholders can shop an expanded selection of more than 100,000 items anytime and many items deliver within 24 hours. Shipping is always free as well, Anderson said.

Special order items, or anything not available in store or at bscsource.com, can be sourced through store personnel or by calling customer service at Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind at 800-891-9295.

"The store is also a marketplace for AbilityOne products," said Anderson "These products, which range from white board cleaner wipes, to titanium scissors, to desktop monitor privacy screens, are created by people who are blind or have other severe disabilities.

"At the Tyndall AFB store, we employ two associates who are legally blind," said Anderson.

Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind employs more than 450 people who are blind or visually impaired. AbilityOne products are manufactured, assembled, packaged and distributed in the United States and employ nearly 45,000 disabled Americans.
