Tyndall's Child Development Center (CDC) will host a family holiday feast at 11 a.m. Dec. 16.

During this event, family members of children enrolled at the CDC are invited to share a meal with their children and enjoy a festive time.

"The ham and turkey will be prepared by the Tyndall Dining Facility staff," said Charlotte Bruce, 325th Force Support Squadron CDC cook. "The fixings such as the yams, green beans and rolls will be prepared in the CDC kitchen. The CDC staff will also prepare the desserts such as sweet potato and pumpkin and pecan pie."
Traditionally the holiday season is a time to bring families together, and the CDC takes this opportunity to share it with those in their care.

"The purpose of our holiday family feast is an opportunity for families to have a time to share a meal with their children," said Joyce Dyer, 325th FSS preschool and voluntary prekindergarten teacher. "This is one of the many family involvements that we offer during the course of the year. The activities allow our military and civilian families a special time to interact with their children during their daily routine."

The feast has been going on for more than 10 years and serves two purposes: bringing families together for a meal, as well as giving the children the chance to show their parents the things they have learned.

"During these luncheons, the families are able to see the self-help skills their children have learned, such as setting the table, serving themselves, pouring their own milk and cleaning up after themselves," said Sandy Veuleman, 325th FSS CDC toddler teacher. "It also allows families to meet and get to know each other and interact with their child's teachers."

As the holiday season approaches, the professionals of the Tyndall CDC will continue to offer childcare for those in need.
