Santa Clause is coming -- to run Published Dec. 9, 2015 By Senior Airman Solomon Cook 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- You better watch out, you better not cry, the Tyndall Fitness Center is telling you why, Santa Clause is coming to run. The Tyndall Fitness Center will host a Santa 5K fun run at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 17, with the run starting in the front parking lot of the Horizons Community Center. "The purpose of this run is to promote a healthy life style and celebrate the Christmas holiday," said Richard Byers, 325th Force Support Squadron sports director. "The event is open to the Tyndall community and there is no need for a sign-up sheet. Airmen and others can just show up." This is the eighth year that the Fitness and Sports Center has held this event and the run is a predetermined 3.1-mile route on Tyndall's many roadways, Byers added. Runners are encouraged to dress festively. Prizes are available for those fast enough to outrun Santa. "There will be prizes awarded to all the participants that outrun Santa," Byers said. "Prizes are donated from the "Breakfast with Santa" event. Rest assured, Santa won't be running in a full-out sprint, but will make a challenging run for those participating." For Airmen out at the 5K, they should run quick and try to beat Jolly Old St. Nick.
