AF Ball: In Full Swing Published Aug. 5, 2015 By Senior Airman Ty-Rico Lea 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- As the annual Air Force ball approaches the anticipation is rising among Tyndall Airmen of all ranks. Some have attended in the past, and some are first timers, but all are expecting a memorable event. "The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the term "Air Force" is the whole reason we're here today; to eliminate threats foreign and domestic and uphold the peace and freedom of America," said Staff Sgt. Kyle Scheumann, 101st Air Communications Squadron secure voice technician. The Tyndall Air Force Ball committee is working to make this year's ball "nostalgia heavy" with this year's theme of "Soaring through the Decades." In keeping with the theme, the committee plans to remind and educate attendees of the Air Force's heritage. "In this tech savvy age, the use of social media has been instrumental in getting the word out," said Master Sgt. Juliea Tate, 325th Fighter Wing aviation resource management functional manager. Committee members from across the installation are working in specific fields to bring the event together. "There's a lot of work and coordination with getting everyone involved," said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Koob, 83rd Fighter Wing Squadron scheduler. "Making sure everyone has the most up-to-date information and making sure each committee is progressing and knowing the status is very tasking. I've enjoyed it so far." The ball is planned to cater to everyone's interest in entertainment with several attractions such as: a karaoke room, ball room, and piano room each will contain a variety of foods. This year's Air Force ball will be hosted at the Boardwalk Beach Resort in Panama City Beach. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase to Airmen during mid to late August. Airmen will also have the option to purchase tickets through e-invites. "I put the footwork into getting the event venue secured," said Tech. Sgt. Joseph Southern, 325th Operational Support Squadron air traffic controller craftsman. "I visited multiple hotels and venues to determine if they would work for our amount of people and within our budget. I also worked out different options for food to stay within our budget and taste." In addition, childcare services will be provided to children of service members with movies, games and food, all provided by North Star Church of Panama City. "I would definitely recommend other Airmen to attend at least one Air Force ball," said Senior Airman Tony Mathis, 325th Logistics Readiness Squadron additional duty unit training manager. "It's an event that gets all ranks of Airmen together and allows them to know one another a little better."
