JUNE 5 CAF Day Plan

This quarter's Compressive Airman Fitness Day will be June 5, and be jam packed of great events geared to encourage people to make healthy choices when it comes to seeking help and drinking responsibly.

The day will consist of five events utilizing a schedule divided up by groups.

The events of the day include:

1)      Spiritual Pillar Breakfast

Event point of contact: Tyndall Chapel
Time: 7:30 a.m.

Location: Horizons Community Center

Overview: The Speaker will be the new Wing Chaplain Major Ismael Rodriguez who will be speaking about "How to Cope with Life's Struggles." Everyone is welcome.

 

2)      Street Smart

Event POC: Safety
Time: 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 11 a.m.

Location: Fitness Center Gymnasium
Overview: A one hour presentation conducted by Florida Stay Alive from Education, from a paramedic's perspective on trying to save the life of a vehicular mishap victim.  The presentation is approximately 45 minutes.

 

3)      Herschel Walker Visit

Event POC: Capt. Ryan Kalpinski, 325th Medical Operation Squadron
Time: Variable unit visit times, 10-11 a.m. (Fitness Center), 1 p.m. (Park)

Location: Visits around base, Fitness Center, Heritage Park (see schedule)
Overview: Herschel Walker, Heisman trophy winner, professional athlete, businessman and author, is the national spokesman for the Patriot Support Program. Herschel has broken free from his own shame related to mental illness and now provides emotional and motivational support to service members, veterans and military families by conducting public speaking engagements at military installations. He will conduct visits in different units which will be coordinated ahead of time by Kalpinski. He will also host a meet and greet at the gym and be the keynote speaker to end the day in the afternoon.

4)      Suicide Prevention Training
Event POC: Squadron commanders
Time: Throughout the morning at designated times (see schedule)

Location: Individual squadrons
Overview: Commanders will select facilitators to lead the 2015 Suicide Prevention Training. The training is laid out in an easy to follow training guide which is comprised of commander's comments, video segments and small group discussions.

 

5)      Summer Picnic in the Park
Event POC: Corey Coleman
Time: 12 - 3 p.m.

Location: Heritage Park
Overview: The 325th Force Support Squadron will host a burger burn and activities in the park such as horse shoes, bouncy house, volleyball, etc. Herschel Walker will speak in the park at 1 p.m. and sign autographs after.  Families and children are welcome to attend.

Notes:

-          Uniform of the day until the picnic. At that time civilian attire is permitted.

 

-          Commanders have the option to host squadron physical training during the 7:30 a.m. block for those who won't be attending the Spiritual Pillar Breakfast or Street Smart.

-          Herschel Walker will be hosting a meet and greet at the Fitness Center from 10 - 11 a.m. which is open to everyone. He will also be available to visit units during their squadron PT time and suicide prevention training in the morning from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

-          Free Blocks can be used at Commander's discretion.

-          Squadrons that have accomplished their suicide prevention training prior to June 5 should consider accomplishing the Annual Sexual Assault Prevention Training.
