Join the fun with the Single Airman Program Initiative Published May 13, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Sergio A. Gamboa 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th force Support Squadron runs a program called the Single Airman Program Initiative and this programs gives Airman the opportunity to have a good time. The Single Airman Programming Initiative is an Air Force program, endorsed by the office of the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, administered by Air Force Personnel Center, and operated through installation Force Support Squadrons. This program is geared towards Airmen to aid them in finding recreational and social events to attend. "This is a program designed to get younger Airman out into the community," said Karalee Duckworth, 325th FSS marketing commercial sponsorship coordinator. "We like to get Airmen to do social and recreational activities to get them more involved with other Airmen. I think this provides an opportunity for some of them to get out of their comfort zone and meet new people who they wouldn't necessarily meet on base." The goal of the program is to allow the 325th FSS to foster resources to build a stronger culture, mission, and sense of community for Airmen, Duckworth added. "We do a lot of outdoor events," said Duckworth. "Our location provides us with great opportunities like going fishing and doing scuba related things. We also like doing indoor events as well to give everyone a relaxing day of fun." Some of the events that the program has had are deep-sea fishing, scuba discovery, scuba certification, sky-diving, casino night, Oktoberfest and they are looking to add more. Even though the events are targeted toward younger Airmen, the events are still open to all Airmen and dependents that want to join the fun. "I signed up for the scuba diving course, and the course itself was challenging, but in a good way," said Senior Airman Jazmin Rivas, 325th Medical Support Squadron medical laboratory technician. "It was nice to get to experience diving with an instructor and learning all of the different components that go into a dive. The program is an amazing way to interact with new people, and doing so in any fun event like this is an opportunity to take if you have the chance." The next event planned is a fishing trip and a discover scuba course, where participants can try out scuba and see if getting certified is something they want to do. The program is also always open to new ideas. For more information or how to sign up for an upcoming event visit the 325th FSS website at www.325fss.com.
