TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --
More than 100 family members of deployed or remote Airmen enjoyed free bowling, skating and pizza buffet Feb. 8 at Rock'It Lanes funded by the Bay County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee.
The MAC and the 325th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center teamed up once again to facilitate this latest Hearts Apart party for these families.
"We just want to support our military," said Larry Carroll, MAC chairman. "These families are important because they are what make everything tick. We just want to show them that we support them and Tyndall being here. We're glad to give back a little something for what they do for us every day."
The MAC works with A&FRC on several programs that help military members and this is the second recent major event they have worked together supporting families of deployed members.
"I'm blown away by the support we have from the community," said Tech Sgt. Lloyd Estes, 325th Force Support Squadron A&FRC readiness NCO. "The partnership with the MAC has been amazing since our holiday party. I can only imagine how much they are going to continue to support us in the future. It's invaluable."
The Hearts Apart program is designed to bring family members of deployed Airmen together to socialize, have fun and see that they are not alone.
"It's nice to get together with people that understand what you're going through," said Sara Schluter, military spouse. "They're having the same struggles and successes that you are. What I like about this base is that it's not only the families of the deployed here, but also the leadership and the key spouses out here giving support."
The program's next slated event is a movie night April 10 at the A&FRC. For more information on the Hearts Apart program contact the A&RFC at (850)-283-4204.
