TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --
The Air Force has a long standing code that mandates personnel remain physically able to defend our nation, should that time come. Whether staying fit to fight, or just keeping in line with fitness objectives, the Tyndall Fitness Center has several programs in place to help Airmen and their families stay on track with their goals.
"It's easy to sit on the sofa and flick the remote. You can't have good health without physical fitness. So come out and join one of the many free aerobic classes we offer at the Fitness Center," said Lou South, 325th Force Support Squadron fitness center director.
The Fitness Center offers programs for people at all fitness levels. While being completely free, they are designed to help people accomplish or maintain an active lifestyle.
According to www.325fss.com, programs offered include:
· Body Blast: Total body conditioning class to include high intensity interval training, bodyweight workouts, strength training and cardio.
· Golden Aerobics: Combination of easy to follow dance moves, strength training and stretching. These classes provide modified, low-impact moves for active older adults.
· Spinning: Indoor cycling class using weighted flywheel fixed bike. Fun, sometimes challenging intensity, will keep you going. Please arrive to the class early when you are trying the class for the first time. Instructor will assist you for the bike fitting.
· Step Aerobics: Aerobic and also anaerobic exercise that uses an elevated platform. Continuous flowing movements will enhance your heart health and overall fitness.
· Strength Express: This class is to improve your muscular endurance and strength and uses a variety of equipment. Variety of lifting, holding, pushing and pulling movements will provide a balanced total body workout. This is a 45 minute class.
· TRX: The TRX Suspension Trainer is a system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.
· Yoga: A user-friendly yoga class is designed to improve the health, performance and mental acuity of any individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. The Hatha yoga based routine will blend balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format.
· Zumba: Forget the workout. Just lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. It's easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.
· Zumba Toning: Learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all the target zones, including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way to sculpt your body naturally while having a total blast.
