Airmen focus on spiritual pillar

Tyndall Airmen uplifted their fitness by volunteering throughout the community during Comprehensive Airmen Fitness Day Nov. 10.

Each CAF day is based on one of four pillars: mental, physical, social and spiritual.

Since all Air Force members have the expectation to maintain a high level of readiness, the four pillars represent a system which is designed to continually work together to support Airmen.

"This quarter our CAF day focused on spiritual resilience," said Corey Coleman, 325th Fighter Wing community support coordinator, who organized CAF day.

Tyndall currently has eight Master Resilience Trainers and over 90 Resilience Training Assistants who are prepared to facilitate the CAF day materials each quarter.

The objective of the day was to discuss how to strengthen a set of beliefs, principles or values
that sustain our sense of well-being and purpose.

"For some, spirituality might be a religion or faith, meaning or direction in life, a way of understanding the world and your place in it, a belief in a higher being, a feeling of belonging or connectedness or a sense there is more to life than material things," said Coleman." Whatever spirituality means to you, it is important that you go after that 100 mph."

Team Tyndall exercised their spiritual pillar by partnering with the local community and assisting with various jobs from pressure washing and landscaping at schools, to painting an entire Habit for Humanity house.

"The community service portion of the day was amazing," Coleman said. "We had the most beautiful fall weather and it was obvious everyone enjoyed a day out of the office giving back to our community."

Working side by side with the local community continues to foster the partnership between Tyndall Airmen and their neighbors outside of the base fences.
