Tyndall hosted Retiree Appreciation Day Nov. 1 at the Base Exchange.

During this event, various booths were open offering information and services to veterans.

"This event is hosted annually, usually coinciding with flu shot season." said Rebecca Mroczkowski, 325th Force Support Squadron community readiness Specialist.  "Vendors provided information to retirees on what services are available to them. Additionally, flu shots are administered and Tyndall's Top 3 grilled hamburgers and hot dogs."

The different stations available were a culmination of various organizations and sections from around the base.

"Of those in attendance were the Airman and Family Readiness Center, legal, Air Force Sergeants Association, Bay County Vet Center, Retiree Activities Office, Tricare, Health Benefits Advisor, pharmacy, dental, public health, women's health, radiology, and the immunization clinic," Mroczkowski said. "After finishing previous years' events, we found these booths had the most interest to retirees."

The purpose of hosting this event is to provide and promote health and information they may not be aware is available to retirees, Mroczkowski added.

"We just want to say thanks to all the veterans for their service and for what they've done for their country," Duane Peters, 325th Fighter Wing Retiree Activity Office director.

Peters' sentiment was expressed by others.

"When I can provide retirees with a resource they weren't aware of before, it feels great to give back to them," Mroczkowski said.
