Retiree Appreciation Day is Nov. 1, and Tyndall has several events set up to honor local retirees and share useful information.

"Our retirees shaped the military into what it is today and are still shaping the future," said Rebecca Mroczkowski, 325th Force Support Squadron community readiness specialist. "They deserve to have recognition for all their hard work and training Airmen following in their footsteps."

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., various base and medical agencies will have booths set up in the Base Exchange/Commissary mall area providing flu shots, information from the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, TRICARE and the Health and Wellness Center and more. The Tyndall Top Three will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs outside the exchange.

Other perks for retirees around base will be two free games of bowling, including shoe rental, at Raptor Lanes after 1 p.m. and a 10 percent discount at the Arts and Crafts Center.

"We just want to say thanks to all the veterans for their service and for what they've done for their country," Duane Peters, 325th Fighter Wing Retiree Activity Office director.

On the day of the event, retirees can dine at the Berg-Liles Dining Facility during breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in a pay as you go, a la carte fashion.

"Retiree Appreciation Day takes over 20 volunteers and support from various on and off base agencies to pull together," said Mroczkowski. "I want to thank them for volunteering their time and knowledge to support our retirees."
