October: Energy Action Month

October is Energy Action Month, and Tyndall will be holding various events on and off base in effort to recognize and prevent energy waste.

"To have the strongest impact, we need all Airmen to contribute towards changing the culture," said Col. Roy-Alan C. Agustin, Air Combat Command installations and mission support director. "Energy spending consumes almost 10 percent of the Air Force budget, so every dollar, gallon, and kilowatt saved makes a difference."

As the base begins to transition into EAM mode, people will first notice base pop-ups on your computer. Each notification will inform you different ways to save both at home and your workplace.

Also, there will be booths setup on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BX/Commissary with various companies to help promote energy savings.

Finally, Tyndall will be hosting an EAM Watt's Up Poster Contest at our very own Tyndall Elementary where the contest winners will be awarded a pizza party and the winning poster will be announce at the end of EAM.

"We have made great progress enhancing our energy surety by improving operational practices, developing alternative energy sources and introducing more efficient technologies," said Agustin. "We need to continue to encourage our Airmen to understand how they fit into the bigger energy conservation effort and ensure they participate in EAM this October and throughout the year."

Energy savings is a collaborative effort and must be approached with the one team one fight mindset for the base to succeed. Take the time to be cognizant of how energy is used day-to-day and make efforts to save, not only money but ultimately, the environment.
