Team Tyndall came together and donated 2,672 pounds of food to fight hunger for local families.
The Tyndall Commissary participated in the Feds Feed Families campaign, which donated the food to the Bay Area Food Bank.

The Feds Feed Families campaign is an annual event with the Defense Commissary Agency and the Tyndall Commissary.

This year the commissary raised about 2,000 more pounds of food than the previous year to feed neighbors in Bay County.

Team Tyndall aided in fighting hunger by purchasing and donating prefilled, prepriced nonperishable food grocery bags.

"It's wonderful to be able to support the community and curb hunger," said Tech. Sgt. Lloyd Estes, Airman and Family Readiness Center readiness noncommissioned officer.

Although the Feds Feed Families Campaign is in the bag for this year, the opportunity to fight hunger is not. The Tyndall Commissary decided to continue collecting and donating food for the local food bank.

"The Tyndall Commissary is continuing to collect donations and Bay Area Food Bank will be the unit contacted to pick them up," said Jo M. Smith, Tyndall Commissary personnel liaison.

Sealed grocery bags are prefilled with nonperishable food items, priced and placed in a box near the cash registers/check out for patrons' convenience and purchase.
"The commissary wants to continue this event to support families that need the assistance," said Smith. "We feel this is a great cause."
