Tyndall earned the Air Combat Command Best Comprehensive Airmen Fitness Day winner for the 2014 first quarter.

Tyndall's CAF day in March put focus the importance of volunteering in the local community.

"CAF Day represents Tyndall's investment in readiness of the force and quality of life of our Airmen, both military and civilian, and their families," said Corey Coleman, 325th Fighter Wing Community Support coordinator. "The Day provides an all-inclusive method to better replace self-defeating behaviors and their consequences with a healthy work and life balance through strengthened resilience."

CAF Day is based on four pillars: mental, physical, social, spiritual. First quarter's CAF Day showcased the social pillar, Coleman added.

Team Tyndall was praised for their actions in a memorandum from Lt. Gen. Lori J. Robinson, ACC vice commander.

"Air Combat Command is proud to announce that Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., was the ACC

Best CAF Day winner for the first quarter 2014. Our congratulations to Tyndall's Community Action Information Board, the Integrated Delivery System team and all personnel involved for this outstanding first quarter 2014 CAF Day. Not only did the events meet all CAF Day requirements, they also showed creativity, innovation, ingenuity and had a high level of participation and effectiveness."

Airmen were filtered out into the community to volunteer at various non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and a local homeless shelter.

"My hope was that CAF Day demonstrated to individuals the benefits associated with volunteering," Coleman said. "Our Air Force is made up of smart, innovative, and hardworking people with skills that non-profit agencies in our community can use."

Organizing the dozens of service projects across so many agencies wasn't a small feat. It is a great example of how much can be done when Tyndall leadership, Airmen, and community work together to accomplish a goal, Coleman added.

Tyndall will continue to instill the importance of being an active part of the local community in its Airmen.

"I am excited that Tyndall is receiving the ACC CAF Day award for our event," Coleman said. "The work that was accomplished that day helped to improve the lives of thousands of people who utilize the organizations we assisted. I am proud to be a part of Team Tyndall."
