Team Tyndall hosted the quarterly Comprehensive Airman Fitness Day June 9 with a focus on Sexual Assault Prevention Response.

CAF days are dedicated to improving all Airmen. According to Corey Coleman, 325th Fighter Wing community support coordinator, it has evolved from a day dedicated to safety to a day that encompasses resilience training, fitness, safety, volunteer service and overall well-being.

"CAF days are time we set aside to discuss how Airmen can be well physically, mentally, spiritually and socially, which are the four pillars of Comprehensive Airmen Fitness," said Coleman. "It's a time where we can hit pause on our day-to-day mission and focus on things like our resilience training."

The first half of the day consisted of a squadron commander's call and a small group discussion, each honing in on sexual assault and how to deter it.

"SAPR day allowed us to talk about reality, which is assault happens to both men and women in our Air Force," said Senior Airman Melanie Maier, 325th Fighter Wing Protocol Specialist. "We need to stand up and not only talk about it on SAPR day, but also be aware of it daily and encourage an environment that will not tolerate any type of sexual assault. If you are a victim, know there is always someone to turn to, including a chaplain who guarantees 100 percent confidentiality."

The Air Force has a zero tolerance policy and is doing all it can to educate its people and stop sexual assault before it starts.

After the training, Team Tyndall was released to Heritage Park to enjoy a complimentary burger burn, which included music and bouncy houses for the kids.

Finally, the units competed in various activities such as fishing, kickball, softball, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and a 5K run. Also on the agenda was a motorcycle mentorship event open to all Tyndall motorcyclists.

The next CAF Day will be hosted in the fall and its theme is to be determined.
