Tyndall hosted a National Prayer Breakfast May 1 at the Horizon's Ballroom.

The National Prayer Breakfast, as designated by the United States Congress, is held on the first Thursday of May.

"This event is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May when people are encouraged to turn to God and take a moment of their busy lifestyles and schedules to pray and/or meditate," said Maj. Gabriel Rios, 325th Fighter Wing senior faith Protestant Chaplin. "In the specific case of Tyndall, we wanted to lift up the spirituality of our Airmen by bringing a man who endured so much suffering but survived because of his faith."

More than 100 people were attended to the event including various representatives from the base and guest speaker Master Sgt. Joseph Deslauriers, Air Force Special Operations Command Headquarters Explosive Ordinance Disposal program manager.

"A few of the highlights were the uplifting stories of our guest speaker, the prayers for the deployed veterans, and for the nation," Rios said. "We had representation from Air Force Northern, Air Force Civil Engineer Center and the whole base, so it was a real fellowship of what Tyndall is all about."

The National Prayer breakfast was open to all ranks and religions to attend.

"It was the first time I heard of a national prayer breakfast," said Airman 1st Class Dakota Polo, 95th Aircraft Maintenance Unit integrated avionics technician. "The prayer breakfast was an eye opener. It was nice seeing the comradely the military has among the different branches. It shows that we are all here for each other no matter what happens."
