Base housing residents recently received an additional location to drop off their recycled items.

"We placed a recycling trailer on the outskirts of Island View Housing," said Edwin Wallace, 325th Civil Engineer Squadron pollution prevention program manager. "There are now six recycling trailers that housing residents can use."

Besides Island View, there are two trailers located by the skateboard park, two trailers at Shell Point Gas Station and one trailer at Beacon Beach Marina residents can drop off their recycled items.

Residents can place loose cardboard boxes in the trailers, and all other recyclables must be bagged and separated, explained Wallace.

"We ask that residents, do not place Styrofoam, wood or household garbage in the carts," added Wallace.

Bagged acceptable items are as follows: magazines, phone books, newspaper, white paper, colored paper, shredded paper, plastic containers and bottles, aluminum cans, tin cans (must be rinsed), paper grocery bags and plastic grocery bags.

Tyndall members residing off base are encouraged to recycle as well. Tyndall members can organize and bag authorized items and place them in the recycling wagons parked around base.

According to the Bay County official website, Bay County Recycling is working to improve the recycling opportunities for Bay County residents. It is asked that recyclers abide by all posted regulations and do not leave garbage at drop-off sites. For Bay County Recycling locations, visit http://maps.baycountyfl.gov/recycle/
