For the first time since April 15, 2010, and almost four years to the day, members of the 95th Aircraft Maintenance Unit participated in the Load Crew Competitions against members from the 43rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit April 11 on Tyndall's flight line.

This time however, instead of performing their respectful duties on an F-15 Eagle, the 95th AMU members performed their duties on an F-22 Raptor. Respective units from the 95th and 43rd AMU select load crew competitors who are considered the best for the quarter.

"They compete against each other to determine the best in the wing," said Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Whiting, 95th AMU assistant superintendent. "During the competition, the crews are under a time restriction and are graded on a point system for safety, time and reliability."

Competitors lose points for any safety or reliability violations, undetected foreign objects and technical order or instruction errors. The team with the least amount of errors is deemed the winner. This quarter's winner is the 95th AMU.

"These competitions allow the best loaders from each AMU to go head-to-head in a loading competition to see who is the overall best Tyndall load crew member," said Senior Master Sgt. Donna Moses, 325th Maintenance Group weapons standardization superintendent. "These competitions motivate the loaders to be the best at their jobs, and it builds morale at the same time. The winners of the quarterly competitions then compete for Load Crew of the Year, and the winner goes on to compete at the Air Combat Command level.

"We have just been notified that Tyndall's 43rd AMU Load Crew team 4-3 received 2013 ACC's Load Crew of the Year," added Moses.
