Medical Group survey highlights expert care

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --  The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care inspected the 325th Medical Group Feb. 18-20.

This AAAHC inspection was a survey on the overall care provided by the group.

"The survey went great," said Col. Frederick Weaver, 325th MDG commander. "The surveyors were very pleased with the attention to detail towards the care we provided to our patients. The teams of medical group professionals always work hard to deliver top-notch care."

The AAAHC is a national organization with the mission of assisting ambulatory health care organizations in improving the quality of care provided to patients. The organization does this by establishing, reviewing, and revising standards, measuring performance, and providing consultation and education, according to its website.

Medical professionals from the AAAHC came to the clinic to look at a variety of things: making sure the patients are the focus of the healthcare, how the clinic is tracking information, governance of the clinic and quality of care, said Capt. Amanda Davis, 325th MDG practice manager and project officer for the AAAHC.

"I am very proud of the clinic," said Davis. "They did a great job. It's like a family here, and the family came together, hustled and made sure the surveyors had everything they needed to complete the inspection."

The accreditation inspection happens every three years and is conducted by practicing physicians.

Results from the survey are scheduled to be back between late March and early April.

"The surveyors asked us questions about our job functions," said Brandy Bridgewater, 325th Medical Group disease manager. "Basically, how and why we do what we do. They focused on making sure the patients' needs are met and ensuring that the patient was the center of the care that we provide here. "Also, that we are focusing on the whole patient - body, mind and spirit."
