More than 130 Team Tyndall spouses attended the First Annual 325th Fighter Wing Spouse's Dining-In Feb. 21 at the Horizon's Activity Center.

The event was hosted by the 325th Fighter Wing leadership spouse's team, and was attended by groups of wives from 14 units and members of the Panama City Junior League. PCJL is a local women's organization who, through various programs, play a large role in the well-being of local children and families.

"The dining in came about because of this leadership team wanting to do something for the spouses that give so much day in and day out to support the mission of the Air Force," said Mrs. Jamee Graff, wife of Col. David Graff, 325th Fighter Wing commander. "We also felt it was important to include a special group from downtown that is a big supporter of the military, the Junior League. We would like to say thank you for your support and hopefully continue to build a bright future together. We all have something very special in common; we care deeply for the welfare of our communities."

A dining-in is a time honored military tradition that regularly includes dinner and other events to boost morale and enhance a sense of camaraderie. For this particular event, the spouse's of Tyndall chose a fairy tale theme, with each unit representing the fairy tale of their choice.

The dining in was focused on showing appreciation to the spouses.

"The 325th Fighter Wing and associated units would not be the success they are today if it were not for the unwavering support each one of you gives to your families, and the countless hours you give to support your spouse and their mission," said Graff. "I like to remind my husband, we make up almost 50 percent of the military."

Graff said she likes to think of the spouses as the 'Heart Behind the Boots.'

"Sometimes the heart might feel a little unappreciated or overlooked for all he or she does behind the scenes," said Graff. "Tonight is a night to celebrate you. We appreciate all your efforts and we want to celebrate and recognize them."

Her intent was well received.

"I appreciate the opportunity to do something outside of the military environment," said Mr. Darrin DeReus, husband of Senior Master Sgt. April DeReus, 325th Comptroller Squadron superintendent. "This gives us a chance to be ourselves and build camaraderie."

Graff also added that she would like to thank the behind the scenes support received from the 325th Force Support Squadron, Heritage Club staff, Protocol, Public Affairs and the 325th Communications Squadron.
