Raptor Quick Turn to serve midnight meal Published Jan. 10, 2014 By Staff Sgt. Rachelle Blake 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Raptor Quick Turn flight line dining facility is scheduled to begin offering midnight meals beginning Jan. 12 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. "During the midnight meal, we will serve our traditional dinner meal and we will also be adding our seven new breakfast items, to include eggs, bacon, pancakes and French toast," said 2nd Lt. Dari Moore, 325th Force Support Squadron food service officer. "We will also have hot beverages like coffee and tea." Their target audience is the Airmen working on the flight line during the night shift. Previously, they would have to travel off base to grab a hot meal. "I have a couple friends that have been saying they wanted a midnight meal," said Tech. Sgt. Joseph McTaggart, 325th FSS RQT shift leader. "It is a good opportunity for them to get some food, and it is close to where they work, versus going in to town for food." Generally, use of dining facilities is restricted to enlisted members and those individuals authorized by the installation commander to meet mission requirements, said Moore. However, it is offered to others under special circumstances. "Officers that are TDY have to bring a copy of their orders if they plan to eat here," said Moore. "Civil Air Patrol, retirees and groups of that nature have to coordinate with the managers before they come." Others authorized in the dining facility include officers and Defense Department civilians on alert status requiring immediate availability that keeps them from leaving the unit area or when required to eat as a group, such as firemen. For those who cannot leave their work centers, the RQT is also offering flight and ground meals with a two-hour notice. "These are essentially boxed meals that come in large and small and can be ordered in large quantities," said Moore. The midnight meal is only an added meal and will not cancel out any of the existing meals. The RQT is also open for lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. "We at FSS are the pulse of the base," Moore said. "We are a support squadron, so when there is a need we come out and answer it. We are really excited about making this midnight meal happen for the Airmen."
