Tyndall breaks holiday record

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --  This year Team Tyndall went above and beyond with their generosity and holiday cheer by making the 2013 Annual Cookie Caper a complete success with more than 800 dozen cookies donated Dec. 9.

The Cookie Caper is an annual program designed to deliver cookies to Airmen living in the dormitories.

Team Tyndall members dropped off cookies at the base commissary where they were packaged by the Cookie Caper elves. Then Tyndall First Sergeants delivered the cookies to their Airmen's rooms while they were at work.

This year's cookie caper was organized by Jamee Graff, wife of Col. David E. Graff, 325th Fighter Wing commander.

"It was truly incredible to watch everyone come together to bless our Airmen," she said. "After the 455 dozens of cookies were delivered, there were still a couple of hundred dozen cookies left over. We were able to deliver cookies to many work areas, Sims Veterans Home, and returning deployers from Afghanistan.

Tyndall Elementary also decorated the bags used to pack the cookies and the commissary opened up their doors and donated supplies.

"The Cookie Caper would not have been so incredibly successful if it weren't for all the generous members of Team Tyndall and our local community," Graff said. "Both Airmen and families from Tyndall and businesses downtown baked all weekend to donate cookies. Several spouses showed up early to pack up the cookies along with some of our Airmen volunteers to support their troops."

"There are still a couple hundred dozen cookies that were frozen to be delivered to swing shifts over the holidays," added Graff. "I just want to thank our Team Tyndall family and everyone who was involved for making this the most successful Cookie Caper seen to date."
