The Airman and Family Readiness Center's Hearts Apart program is scheduled to host a free Whoville Holiday Party for the families of deployed and remote tour Airmen Dec. 6 at 756 Airport Road, Panama City, Fla., 32403.

This year's holiday party theme is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The idea to host the party off base was to have a more centralized location for all the families involved, explained Tech. Sgt. Lloyd Estes, 325th Force Support Squadron, AF&R NCO.

"The inside of the building will look like Dr. Seuss' Whoville and may have some Who-People walking around, along with a possible appearance by the Grinch himself," said Estes "One person that will definitely be there is Santa."

The party will offer activities for families including a catered style buffet, face painting, arts and crafts and various other things to do for all ages.

"We are expecting a large turnout for the holiday party. We are aiming for two bouncy houses," said Estes. "We are going to have a cake walk, pin the heart on the Grinch, decorate your own sugar cookies and write a letter to your deployed loved one."

There will also be gifts and prizes.

Hearts Apart also conducted a "Grinch" movie party Nov. 8. The event offered free food and movies for kids and free cosmetology work, such as hair and nails, for adults.

A total of 13 families took part, and the program is hoping to host one movie party per month, said Estes.

"Hearts Apart is run completely by donations," said Estes. "We currently have about $1,700 worth of donations, be it gift certificates or items."
