Squadron of the Week: 325th Aerospace Medicine Squadron keeping Airmen fit to fight.

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --  The 325th Aerospace Medicine Squadron makes a substantial contribution to Tyndall's success by ensuring the physical readiness of its Airmen.

The 325th AMDS mission is to provide medical, dental, and preventive care enabling all wing and associate units to maximize readiness and combat capability. They provide or arrange for primary and specialty care for over 23,000 people and deliver high-quality healthcare and training with a focus on disease prevention and customer satisfaction.

The squadron consists of several flights. Dental, Flight Medicine, and Optometry flights provide clinical care for all active duty and beneficiaries on Tyndall AFB. Public Health and Bioenvironmental Engineering flights provide communicable disease prevention, force health, and environment protection. These various flights make up  a squadron that is able to meet the  health and readiness of Team Tyndall.

Airmen from the Dental Flight do more than just clean teeth, they are also able to construct crowns and perform advance dental operations just as well as a private practice dental office.

"We ensure all Airmen are healthy and ready to deploy," said Capt. Elizabeth Stamps, 325th AMDS dentist. "We put the bite back in the fight."

The Public Health Flight and Flight Medicine Flight work hand-in-hand to ensure  pilots and other flying-status Airman are medically qualified to continue their mission.  The public health Airmen also ensure that all pre-deployment exams are completed before any Tyndall Airmen go downrange.

"Our mission is to directly support the flyers, we do that by providing unrivaled medical care," said Senior Airman Deseree King, 325th AMDS aerospace medical technician.

Another group that assists in mission readiness is the Bioenvironmental Engineering
Flight; they emphasize risk management by conducting environmental protection checks and evaluating the industrial hygiene for the base population.  They also ensure gas masks utilized at Tyndall are in proper condition. The efforts of the Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight help keep Airmen safe from potential dangers  on the home front and in a deployed environment.

Finally, there is the Optometry Flight. Their goal is to ensure all Airmen and dependents have proper eye examinations, as well as the correct military eye glasses.  The flight also assists in getting Airmen corrective surgery for their eyes.

"Tyndall optometry oversees operational warfighter preparedness by providing spectacle, gas mask and ballistic inserts to warfighters and pilots alike," said Airman 1st Class Jordan Cutaia, 325th AMDS optometry technician. Ballistic inserts provide an extra layer of eye protection in gas masks.

The 325th AMDS provides a vital service to the Airman of Tyndall. They ensure every Airman has the proper medical clearance to effectively execute the 325th mission -- training and projecting unrivaled air combat power.
