Rain, sleet or shine -- that is the motto of the U.S. Postal Service, and with that, a simple change of office location will not slow them down.

The Tyndall post office is slated to move into their new place of business, located near the base Express.

Due to relocation there will be some new procedures for Airmen to receive their mail.

"There will be a central mailbox located in front of the Dormitory Management building for dormitory residents," said Colleen Hummel, 325th Communication Squadron mail clerk. "I believe that it will benefit those without cars receiving mail. The biggest change will be that with the new building, Airmen will have new addresses, box numbers and the combination locks will change to keys."

Though the post office is doing away with Airmen having to come inside to get parcel mail, Airmen will still have to come to the post office for packages. Additionally, Airmen who are on temporary duty assignment will have mailboxes found inside the building, Colleen added.

The move will bring new boxes made in the current century.

"The old mailboxes were built in the 1950s, but they were built to last," said Pamela Pfeiffer, 325th Communication Squadron mail clerk. "The advantage of having newer mailboxes is that we will save time changing combinations. This must be done manually, and if not done correctly can cause a malfunction in the box."

The move is scheduled shortly. Contractors are completed on renovations, and the next step is for inspectors to come and make sure everything is up to code, Pfeiffer added.
