Flight of the Thunderbirds
Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Dale Cooke, former Thunderbirds slot position pilot, prepares for a historic flight in the original unmodified T-38A model used during his service with the USAF Thunderbirds in the early 80s nationwide at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., April 21, 2017. Cooke and Slot Machine logged over 800 flight hours at 200 performances across the country. Slot Machine is the last T-38A model still in service with the 2nd Fighter Training Squadron at Tyndall and is used as a venerable air aggressor for F-22 Raptor student pilots.
