    Today, the Department of Defense released Force Health Protection Guidance (Supplement 23) which provides guidance for implementing additional force health protection and workplace safety measures directed by the White House Safer Federal Workforce Task Force to reduce the transmission of the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

    Innovators and thought leaders from industry, academia and the federal government gathered at the AFWERX Innovation Hub in Las Vegas, Nevada, late last month to review technologies that will be a part of the Revolutionizing Flightline Operations AFWERX Challenge. This effort is a sequel to last year’s Base of the Future Challenge championed by the Natural Disaster Recovery Program Management Office at Tyndall AFB, Florida. 
  • Installation of the Future establishes 43d FGS

    On Sept. 1, the 325th Fighter Wing held a ceremony at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida to stand-down the 325th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and stand-up the 43rd Fighter Generation Squadron as part of an Air Combat Command wing reorganization effort. The new structure, called Combat Oriented Maintenance Organization, or COMO, allows an aircraft maintenance squadron to be paired with a fighter squadron to work collaboratively while at home station and during deployments.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded the fourth rebuild Military Construction project contract to build Tyndall Air Force Base’s new 325th Fighter Wing Headquarters facility.

    According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, every day roughly 28 people die in accidents involving drivers who were under the influence or while intoxicated. That statistic equates to about one loss of life every 52 minutes.
  • AFRCC controllers perform a life or death mission

    “These things we do, so others may live,” reads a statement displayed on the door of the First Air Force’s Air Force Rescue Coordination Center operations floor at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. It’s a statement to reaffirm the commitment of the Airmen assigned to the AFRCC to saving lives. The AFRCC is operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the United States’ inland search and rescue coordinator, it serves as the single agency responsible for coordinating on-land SAR activities in the 48 contiguous United States, Mexico and Canada. The AFRCC has direct access to the Federal Aviation Administration’s alerting system and the U.S. Mission Control Center.
