TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Senior Airman Kevin Morgan, 325th Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental engineering technician, has been at Tyndall Air Force Base since May, 2019.
Bioenvironmental engineers specialize in reducing health hazards in the workplace and surrounding areas.
“Our job includes performing health risk assessments for industrial shops, as well as tracking and assessing hazardous noise and chemicals, Occupational Safety and Health Administration expanded standards, ergonomics, and laser safety,” said Morgan.
Morgan said the squadron also anticipates, recognizes, evaluates, and controls exposures during CBRN events.
Bioenvironmental engineers have played a big role in getting Tyndall back and running after Hurricane Michael.
“Helping squadrons stand back up has been a big keynote for our flight at Tyndall,” said Morgan.
Morgan also said bioenvironmental engineers from the 325th AMDS were brought back on base after the storm to assess the damage and health hazards to workers and ensure the workplace was safe before Airmen could return.
Prior to joining the Air Force in 2011, Morgan was working as a firefighter and as a paramedic.
Morgan’s first assignment in the Air Force was in fire safety, but he became a bioenvironmental engineering technician in 2012.
Outside of work, Morgan enjoys spending time with family, watching his kids play sports, fishing, and is looking forward to hunting season.
